Kritika Kamra calls television an uncomfortable space
When asked about which TV set was a safe space for her, Kritika says, “I’ve been very lucky. My first set was only a very safe set. It was because of the people, and I have lucked out when it came to people. I have worked with some great people and even had some weird kind of experiences. But mostly and especially the first few sets were really safe for a woman. For somebody my age, I used to be the youngest on set. And everybody was very cognizant of that, so they would take care of me, but they would also not treat me like a child. My opinions were taken seriously, so that was very good for me from the beginning. From Yahan Ke Hum Sikandar to even Kitni Mohabbat Hai, it was very good because of my directors and co-actors.”

She further adds how TV set life is uncomfortable. She remarks, “Television is not comfortable, let’s be honest about that. Those sets, life is not glamorous. Your shooting life and your working life are such that you don’t have another life outside of that. It was not comfortable, but it was safe. And after a point, it started getting very exhausting also and taking a toll on me physically as well as mentally. Even then I was pushing through it because I was just so obsessed with shooting that. I pushed for a long time. It was only when I reached a roadblock and like a dead-end almost creatively, is when I said that no, I can’t do this anymore.”
